Medications used to treat conditions such as anxiety, attention, pain, or sleep problems have to risk of leading to abuse or addiction. Sometimes taking more than was prescribed, taking someone else’s medications, or supplementing with illegal substances when unable to use prescription medications may be signs of abuse. Combining medications with alcohol may also be a sign of abuse.
