Depression

Depression is a common but serious illness. Depression is very different from the normal ups and downs of life or the short-lived down or sad feelings that are an appropriate response to life’s challenges.  Depression can have a significant impact in peoples lives, negatively effecting how you feel, think, and handle daily activities.

Loss of interest and pleasure in activities or relationships and feeling fatigued and out of energy are often the first signs people recognize. Depression can color our view of the world so that we only see and feel the negative and painful elements, overlooking or not valuing the things that bring us relief.  If the emotional pain and self-loathing become great enough, they can lead to feelings of hopelessness, self-destructive behavior, or even thoughts of death and suicide.

We come alongside you to help develop routines and patterns that create a positive, fulfilling lifestyle – whether it’s better sleep, exercise and nutrition, or medication management. Depression can be overcome and life can be very different.

If you have been experiencing some of the following symptoms most of the day, almost every day, for several weeks, you may be suffering from depression:

  • Sad, empty, hopeless
  • Decreased interest or pleasure in activities and hobbies
  • Decreased appetite
  • Fatigue or loss of energy
  • Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
